Whinging about jobs again.
Still nothing about a job, or even an interview. Am starting to mope.
I'm thinking of doing some substitute teaching for a bit, just to have some money coming in while I wait. It'll give me something to do and it'll be an easy job to quit whenever I do get a real job. I used to work for the school system here, so I'm sure it'll be no trouble to get put on the list so that the teachers I know can call me in.
Tomorrow I'm putting an application for this job in the post. It's a research assistant job at Newcastle University, helping with a behavioural project on birds. I'm hoping my combined degrees and the fact that I have an extra psychology degree will help overcome my lack of a PhD. No idea if I'll be able to get shortlisted for this one, but I really would like to have it. The pay is excellent, and with the exchange rate such as it is I could pay off my student loan easily within the two-year contract of the position. The research experience would look great on my resume, as well, and it's still within the area of animal behaviour so I wouldn't be going too far off the beaten track, topic-wise.
*crosses fingers and toes*
Pleeeeease, someone hire me. I can't hang around in limbo forever. The boredom alone is killing me.

I am so with you. Even temp agencies don't want to give me work. If I didn't have my volunteer hours at the library, I would have shrivelled up into a little ball of OMGSOBOREDANDUSELESS. It's not good when you can go for more than a week without leaving the house.

One day, we will be an award-winning editor and scientist, and we can hire peons with no experience to do our typing and data entry. *g*

Is it a regular kind of psychology degree or an animal-related psychology degree?
Anyway, I hope you get the job - you've definitely worked hard for it! :)

It's a basic psych degree, nothing special or focused. It's just nice to have it so I can say I have a basic background in the subject. And thanks! I hope so too :)

What do plan on doing after you get your associate's?
...That's a fantastic question. Hm. Yeah, I'm not totally sure and I have to discover the answer fairly soon. I'd like to get more experience, actually. All the photographers we've encountered at school say pretty much say that's it's very different actually doing photography of some sort professionally. I would say much of the time it's advised to work for someone for a while.
There's a local photographer whom I have a friend who works for him, so I'm going to see if I could assist him as well. Also, hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to a bunch of people this semester. I'm very nervous and scared, actually. :-/

And, honestly, I'm crossing my fingers for you to get a job you really love. And soon! But I will add this: higher-end jobs take longer to find, so don't get discouraged.
