Finally had a chance to set up the new computer tonight. Fussed with all the cords and got things settled the way I liked them, then hit the power button.

It sounded like a freakin' death rattle. Had to power off before it even booted up.

Something's rattling around in there, and I suppose the obvious culprit is a borked fan, so sadly it looks like I shall be standing in the awful post-holiday sales return lines tomorrow. What a fun way to spend my day off.

I have noticed that the lines at stores tend to be nil when they first open, even if they are packed a half hour after. You might have better luck getting straight in and out if you are there 5 mins before the doors open. Just a thought.
