It's not that so much (I am aware, I do have eyes people!) as how the discussions always seem to degrade into biting comments over differing opinions. I like TV for escape, not seeing people calling each other names because they feel male caucasians are over-represented in TV while women and other races are left behind in the dust. I realize it. I don't want to be reminded of it then called "apathetic" or a "traitor to my own gender" (oh lord, I was called that and worse) simply because I didn't care. It got to the point where I couldn't watch certain TV shows because all I could think of while watching it was all that crap. Then I'd end up wincing at certain bits because it'd be like "oh great, I know what they're gonna say about this" and it just took all enjoyment out of it. I figure media isn't perfect. I know it's not perfect. I can't speed up the process and as long as the actors on TV do have talent to pull it off I don't care what race/gender they are.

O____O OKAY, that was not directed at you in any way! It was something on my chest for like ages. You and I always have great conversations about it, and we usually agree. Or you make really great points and I end up agreeing and cursing you for being smooth/right. ;D
