Eurovision!

Sadly, I'm not watching it live on telly this year, but thanks to the Official Eurovision Website, I can watch it live on streaming internet tv! Better yet, I don't have to put up with commentators.

Also sadly, the first internet cafe I tried had their wireless down, so by the time I got to this one I'd missed the first hour or so - about 12 contestants. I came in on France. I'll have to hope I can find vids for the others later.

13. France - Um, what was that? Seriously. Ugh.

14. Latvia - Lots of pretty men singing in faux-operatic style. Kinda cheesy, but I like it.

15. Russia - I would swear that's a young Peta Wilson singing up there. I hate the outfits, but the song is catchy enough.

16. Germany - Well, it's better than last year's country song? I'm a sucker for swing music, so I liked it fine. The guy's suit wasn't bad, but damn, that hat needs to go.

17. Serbia - Genderbending to the point where I'm honestly unsure if that's a girl or guy. I'm guessing a girl. Maybe. She's got a terrific voice!

18. Ukraine - Oh my. That's...blingy. The sad thing is, this song is going to be SUCH an earworm. It's catchy as hell.

19. UK - Oh my god, how lame.

20. Romania - I have no words. However, I was certainly entertained!

21. Bulgaria - Dude, it's Xena music! I swear, that initial vocal bit was right out of the Xena score. Which is probably fitting, since I think Mr. LoDuca used some traditional Bulgarian tunes in his music. This chick has great vocal control, and the corset is lovely. I love the drum break in the middle, too.

22. Turkey - Ew. I didn't like that one at all. The costumes, the song, the dancing - it was all horrible.

23. Armenia - Cheesy love song. Yawn.

24. Moldova - On my short list. Very nice power metal.

Santa, wtf? "You are so lovely." Hee!

So happy they showed a nice montage of all the entries so I can see what I missed. Yay Finland! The Georgia entry makes me think of T.A.T.U., or however that goes. Oh, Greece, wtf? You and the Ukraine must have the same supplier.

I'm so downloading some of these afterwards. Heh.

I hesitate to make any predictions, b/c there's no clear favorite this year like there was last year.
