RL job stuff

Well, I've just submitted my first job inquiry (sort of pre-application thing) for when I'm finished with the master's.

Trying for this job at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I'm going to need a job when I get home that will help me pay back this massive Stafford Loan and let me make some money while I'm looking around for funding for a PhD. I've enjoyed the husbandry experience during my project, so I figure aquarium work wouldn't be too bad.

I don't have the SCUBA certification, but I put intention to get it in my CV so maybe they'll overlook that. It's really the only qualification I lack.

It's going to be scary to leave Wales. I can always go home for a while and stay with my mom, but I'm going to be pretty much out of money come November. I can't be in limbo for too long before getting a job. I don't care where it is, but I need a job. There are no funded PhDs in cephalopods being offered this year, so I'm going to have to propose one and find funding for it, which will take time. Oy.

Indeed, good luck with job. Have my own anxieties about leaving the country, but the US is full of nice people, right?

It is indeed. As much so as any other country, IMO. Where are you thinking of relocating?

To Columbus, Ohio. Everyone says it is really nice, but not vastly exciting. Which is good for me since the job looks good and moving to another country is quite enough excitement for a bit. Also, as I said, at least one bloke I know said that he quite liked it because he found the people in that part of the US v. friendly.
