Sci-Fi Friday, part one.

I'm so very happy with SG-1 lately. This was sort of a continuation of last week, the usual light end of season fare before the big finale stuff. So much team, so much love.

I have nothing terribly deep to say about this ep, just lots of squee. Carnivorous bugs! Team action! Dr Lee! Woolsey actually being cool! :)

Daniel has three PhDs now? *listens to the sound of a million fanfic writers scribbling edits to their stories* We knew the archaeology one, and they put the anthro degree on some of the trading cards or something once, but philology is definitely new. I like it. That's probably the best match for Daniel's skills, and I'd guess he specialized in comparative linguistics and/or maybe deciphering ancient texts.

Heh, I'll bet Daniel loves Tolkien.

I so want to know what Daniel said to Dr Shen in Chinese (yay for more languages! We knew he spoke at least one dialect of Chinese, but this is AFAIK the first we've heard him use it) and what Mitchell said in response. It must have been good for Daniel to get that expression on his face when Mitchell revealed he knew Chinese too.

Teal'c didn't get to do much except banter with Mitchell, but luckily I like that. They're so cute. It's sweet of Mitchell to want to help find Teal'c another apartment, though I half expected him to suggest they shack up together.

Sam was much better this ep and kept the technobabble to a minimum, not to mention handled Woolsey well.

I assume the stuff about the Chinese government planning something (takeover? what?) regarding the SGC is foreshadowing, but why would Shen tell Daniel? Is she really hoping to recruit him? Is that the "controversial Daniel arc" for next season?

Movie night! Fabulous bit of canon - thank you, writers. And Starship Troopers? *dead* I will admit to a certain fondness for that movie, though I hear the book is better.

Next up, BSG. I see happy reactions on my flist but I've made myself avoid clicking on any cuts. Will remain unspoiled.
