Memes, memes, memes.
As the only interesting thing I've done this week is hang out with
cimmerianwillow on Sunday (after far too long without, I must say), I don't have much else to post about. Thus, memes.
1) Total number of books owned? Somewhere around 400. So not enough.
2) The last book I bought? Recent trip to McKay's Used Books resulted in the purchase of The Woman Who Never Evolved by Sarah Blaffer Hrdy and Seas, Maps and Men (a largish hardback edited by someone or other).
3) The last book I read? Was simultaneously reading Sexual Selections by Marlene Zuk and Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett. Both lovely.
4) Book(s) that mean(s) a lot to me?
The Search for the Giant Squid - Richard Ellis
The Fox and the Hound - Daniel P Mannix
Thank You, Jeeves - PG Wodehouse
Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien
Gormenghast Trilogy - Mervyn Peake
Kidnapped - Robert Louis Stevenson
Golden Treasury of Poetry - Louis Untermeyer
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead - Tom Stoppard
Good Omens - Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Jules Verne
Textual Poachers - Henry Jenkins
HMS Surprise - Patrick O'Brian
Invisible Man - HG Wells
Gods and Generals - Jeff Shaara
The thing about lists like these is that they change depending on moods, but many of these would always be on the lists.
1. Total volume of music files on my computer? About 2.85 GB on my laptop right now. So need to trim it down.
2. The last CD I bought was: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy soundtrack
3. The last song I listened to before writing this was: Serenity by Godsmack
4. Song playing right now: Heroes from Our Past by The Dropkick Murphys
5. Ten songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:
Kathleen Mavourneen - traditional
The Highwayman - Loreena McKennitt
Hallelujah - John Cale
Lies - Stan Rogers
Appalachian Spring - Aaron Copland
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
No More Sad Songs - Pierce Pettis
Flight of Dragons - Don McLean
I'm Going to Go Back There Someday - The Great Gonzo

6. Ten albums I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:
Book of Secrets - Loreena McKennitt
Super Secret - Ookla the Mok
The Ghosts that Haunt Me - Crash Test Dummies
Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert
The Three Musketeers soundtrack - Michael Kamen
Lord of the Rings soundtracks - Howard Shore

Listing favorites is so difficult. I'd answer differently tomorrow, no doubt.
Btw, Willow showed me A Shark Tale on Monday, an absolutely hysterical animated movie from Dreamworks. Thesubtle thinly veiled absolutely blatant allusions to homosexuality and acceptance were both funny and touching. It was fun pointing out all the pop culture references. I recommend it.
