castalia: (Torchwood - Ianto knows everything)

It has snowed. In March, in Tennessee, after several weeks of temperatures venturing from the 40s up to the 70s.. I swear, our weather is the craziest thing ever. We're still getting snow flurries and short snow showers today, with supposedly more to come tomorrow.

After a busy week, I finally got a chance to watch the latest Torchwood...

That? Was a cracktasticly fun hour of telly. From the preview, I was sure I was going to hate this episode, but that did not happen. Whatever the writers are smoking this season, they need to keep getting a steady supply of it.

Gwen kicked so much ass! Sometimes I'm a bit meh about the actress, and then they'll give her something comedic to do and I'll remember that no, she's great and has awesome facial expressions and I like her a lot. For the most part, the whole alien pregnancy thing was handled really well; I especially liked that Gwen still managed to defend herself, and the hiding of her gun behind her bouquet was terrific and unexpected. I liked how sure she was about still wanting to get married and how even though there was still that annoying mess with Jack, she still chose Rhys and made it HER choice. Her friends (and Rhys's, for that matter - seriously, a sad skeevy one who got eaten and one with an unfortunate nickname and even more unfortunate features, ugh) were a bit rubbish, but oh well.

Rhys, by the way, continues to be made of awesome and adorkable glee. I nearly died when he got the chainsaw and started ranting about how the man-eating alien was ruining his wedding, then lost it again when the chainsaw motor cut out and he cursed. I heart Rhys so much.

Despite all the fantastic theories put forth in one of [livejournal.com profile] fan_eunice's recent posts, we now know the reason why Ianto wears such nice suits all the time. His father was a tailor! Who has passed on an ability to size up a man's attributes and measurements with a glance, no less. Oh, Ianto. The look on your face when the bridal shop owner insinuated you were buying the wedding dress for yourself was priceless. I wonder what the guy thought when you bought the preggers kind of dress. *snicker*

In conclusion, Torchwood should do comedy more often. Me likes.
