castalia: (SAJV Quote - words)

Bit of joy, bit of bleh.

Lit review is done, whee! Just under 9,000 words which is certainly acceptable. I keep poking at it, but it's more or less finished.

The plankton flux report, on the other hand, is not. It is evil and incomprehensible and I hate it more than words can say. What a pointless assignment. If I wanted to be a physical oceanographer I would've done the freakin' Applied and Physical Oceanography master's, for crying out loud. I'm a behaviorist, so I really don't give a shit about water transport, plankton flux, or bloody prismatic approximations.

There is also much worry and sadness, b/c one of the cuttlefish in Tank D doesn't look good at all. They must have been fighting in that tank, b/c it has some nasty abrasions on the mantle and a lot of skin damage. It looked very listless and ill today, so I'm worried we may lose it, poor thing.

*heavy sigh*

I need tea.

GIP, b/c I've been watching a lot of The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne lately. And it's a damn amusing quote.

ETA: Report is done, though it is probably shite. At any rate, it is very short. I don't feel like I've understood the subject matter anyway, but there's nothing I can do about it. The lit review was more important and worth 4 times as much. I keep worrying I've forgotten something in the review, but at this stage I can't feasibly add too much more in there. But my word count is good, I think the structure works, pretty sure I caught all the little mistakes, and my reference list is suitably extensive. Only managed one massive table, which is good for summarizing, but I still wish I could've found some good pictures to include, just to break up the text. Argh, too much fretting.

Adorable icon!

Sorry about the plankton and the cuttlefish. :-( Using my only sealife-related icon in an attempt to show solidarity.

Thanks! Alas, I fear I may be guilty of thinking that quote to myself at times.

I love that icon. It always makes me giggle a bit. I needed a good giggle in the face of an assignment I don't really understand (but I don't feel too bad about that b/c no one else gets it either).

*uses own Finding Nemo icon even though it's not as cheerful*

SAJV, squeee!

BTW, did you know that Francesca Hunt guest stars in one of the Eighth Doctor Big Finish audios (where one of the regular companions is Charley, played by her sister, India Fisher)? I listened to it to day, and it was utterly fabulous. It's set about ten years before SAJV takes place. Poor FH just can't escape the corsets. *g*

*clings to fellow SAJV fan* I hadn't watched it in ages but some lovely person has been uploaded the eps to [livejournal.com profile] cdntvonthedl, a fab Canadian tv sharing comm someone on my flist ([livejournal.com profile] perian) started. I may have to make a huge fannish post about it soon, complete with screencaps (finally, large caps!) b/c omg, the love!

Ooh, yes! I'd read about that at her site but I haven't heard it. I'll bet she was just terrific in that. I keep hoping to hear about new roles for her; at least the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory role was high profile, though not especially large or with lines.

We are so few. *sad*

Spiffy! I have most of the episodes on tape back at home, but I wouldn't mind some large caps for iconing purposes...

Oh, do listen to it if you get a chance. It's fabulous. She's very different from Rebecca, but she plays the role very well. And she and her sister sound very similar (which I suppose is why they're kept apart for the entire episode *g*).

I know! I think she was a guest star on BBC series a couple years ago, but beyond that, nothing. Maybe she's doing theatre work we just haven't heard about?

I've got 1-8 so far, so now that the worst of my workload is over I'll probably do some SAJV squee posts and include lots of caps. Never hurts to pimp one's show.

I'll keep an eye out for the audio thing. I'm sure some Dr Who fans have a copy available online somewhere.

Hm, good point. She's done a lot of theatre before, I believe.

Hee!

According to your userinfo, you're already in one community where you could get it. I'm sure you know which one it is. *g* It's tagged as both audios and eighth doctor, I believe.

Hee, yup. Found the comm when going through your userinfo, so thanks :)
