Speaking of Over the Hedge...

I've been keeping an eye on the upcoming Over the Hedge movie for a while, never quite sure whether to squee or not. But I walked by a "coming soon" movie poster for it early today on the way to Lidl so you get a post about it.
On one hand, the thought of seeing some of my favorite comic strip characters on the big screen is a nifty one.
On the other hand, there is worry that DreamWorks might screw it up.
On yet another hand, Fry and Lewis are credited so I assume they had at least some input. However, this hand doesn't carry quite so much weight as some other guy actually wrote the screenplay.
The casting actually sounds like crack-laced candy. Bruce Willis as RJ (replacing the initial choice of Jim Carrey, thank GOD), Garry Shandling as Verne, William Shatner (first time doing voice work, yeah? 'Bout damn time!), Allison Janney, Eugene Levy, Nick Nolte, Catherine O'Hara!!, and dude, Gene Wilder! A few odd choices - Avril Lavigne, WTF??? - but on the whole, very good.
There's at least one good preview up here with pictures, but I'm not sure about the animation. It doesn't really capture the style of the comic, IMO. It's cute, but I don't want it to be too cute. OTH is a good mix of cute fuzziness and snarky goodness, and if the movie isn't snarky I'll be disappointed.
The Sammy/Hammy confusion still remains. Damn those alternate universe mirrors. Whichever name they give him, he doesn't look goofy enough.
The site says it won't be out until June in the UK, but if that's the case the Apollo is really putting out the movie posters too soon. Geez.
Anyone else planning on seeing this? Anyone else a fan of the comic, for that matter?
